Passionate Paris Guide to Escort You to Versailles via Train
Feeling fancy? Then a trip to the Versailles Palace and Gardens is just what you need. Our small group Versailles Palace tour takes you there with a professional English-Speaking guide. Don’t bother yourself with planning out your trip, booking your tickets and figuring out what to see when you arrive. We take care of all the details. Feel like royalty as your tour guide escorts you from Paris to Versailles by train, then helps you understand exactly what it was like to be a French king or queen in 17th century France. This three hour tour includes:
A breathtaking product of 17th century France, the land where the palace sits on originally served as the hunting grounds of King Louis XIII. It was his son Louis XIV who took over and created what the world now knows as Versailles. Louis XIV even destroyed the nearby village for the construction of Château de Versailles. Containing over 2,000 rooms and 2,000 windows, the palace is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As you approach the exquisite palace, it is easy to understand why over 7 million people visit each year. The extraordinary feat of French Baroque Architecture served as an inspiration for many palaces built across Europe around the same time period. And if you thought the exterior of the palace is incredible, wait until you see the sumptuous decorations, art and furnishings inside.
The Hall of Mirrors is the most famous room in the palace, measuring almost 70 yards long and adorned with 357 mirrors. The mirrors in this room were said to protect the walls from smoke and to reflect light. Only a few candles were needed to reflect candle light throughout the entire room. It was in the Hall of Mirrors that the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28th, 1919. This treaty is so important because it ended the First World War. With thousands of rooms, knowing what to see in the Palace of Versailles is a challenge. A guided tour is the best way to cover the must-see highlights including the King's State Apartments and Louis XV's daughters' Apartments.
After touring the palace, explore the enchanting Gardens of Versailles. Copied around the world, the meticulously-manicured gardens occupy a total area of almost 2,000 acres. Thousands of trees were brought in from around France to create the gardens; entire regiments of the French army were used to transport them and level the ground. The gardens feature over 400 sculptures and 1,400 fountains.
After an introduction to the gardens you are free to explore on your own, or simply find a place to relax in the sun. After you’re finished soaking in the splendor and taking photos, make your way back to the train station. Head back to Paris with your return train ticket (included in the price of the tour).

I did an Internet search for tours as with the rotating train strikes in Paris I wanted to go as part of a tour and not get lost or stuck by myself (i was traveling on business and was by myself). The Paris Guy sounded good, but I wasn't sure what to expect. We met at the metro station near the Eiffel Tower *easy to find despite my challenge finding the way out of that metro stop and I exited one before and walked there - Paris is so easy to figure out). Where I met Erica and Zdarvko (hope I am spelling his name correctly). They were fantastic. We took the train to Versailles which was a nice ride and Z (as he wanted to be called) spent the time quizzing us on our knowledge of Versailes and French history and spent 3.5 hours touring the palace and the groups and then were given free time to explore as we wished. I highly recommend this tour. Z's knowledge of Versailles the history of that time is incredible.
The only issue I had was on the way back as I exited a different way than I went in and got confused and went left instead of right and had a problem finding the train station, but I stopped at a police station and they pointed me in the right direction. Back on the train in no time. It was a highly enjoyable trip outside of Paris and I highly recommend The Paris Guy Tours (I also took a tour with them the next day to the Louvre) which was also fantastic...more

Our guide Violet was amazing, so knowledgable and easy going. Although we chose a shorter tour, we didn't feel rushed, were guided through the crowds with ease and finished the tour extremely happy. Being able to skip the line was such a benefit and there's definitely no other way to visit Versailles than with the Paris Guy..more

Erica was the hostess that met us and coordinated our tours. We also did a tour of Versailles with the Paris Guy and that was also excellent and Antony was a delightful guide. I would highly recommend The Paris Guy (or The Rome Guy) and will use them again on our next trip to Europe...more
